Mistrust Live at Glaston-BURY 2023
I performed live (twice!) at the Glaston-BURY Festival on Monday 28th of August, 2023. My first performance was at The Blind Tiger Bar on Bolton Street, Bury. The second performance was at “Jonny’s Jam” on the Originals Stage, Broad Street, hosted by Aziz Ibrahim and Jonny Jay. It was my first ever performance at a music festival!
Mistrust at The Blind Tiger, Bury
My performance at The Blind Tiger was due to start at 2.55pm but due to the previous band “Celebratory Cakes” running late, I didn’t start playing until 3.15pm! I performed seven songs for an audience who probably didn’t know what to expect and probably never heard of “Mistrust”!! The event went really well and I even had some of the audience singing along to my version of “Love Will Tear Us Apart” by Joy Division.
Setlist
Waiting for the Man / Sunlight / Life / Love Will Tear Us Apart / Yellow and Grey / S.O.A.P. / Enola Gay
Mistrust at Jonny’s Jam, Glaston-BURY
I performed two songs at Jonny’s Jam, an open mic and jam session on the Originals Stage on Broad Street, Bury at around 4.15pm. The event was hosted by the legendary guitarist Aziz Ibrahim and DJ Jonny Kay. I got to play with Aziz Ibrahim, who jammed along to me playing and singing “Love will Tear Us Apart” by Joy Division. It was an amazing experience and went incredibly! It’s the first time I’ve ever performed with anyone else playing along with me. I also played my own song “Yellow and Grey” and loads of people in the audience were singing and clapping along. An amazing experience!
Setlist
Love Will Tear Us Apart / Yellow and Grey

About Mistrust
Mistrust takes his inspiration from bands such as Liverpool legends Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) and bands such as The Human League and Depeche Mode.
Expect to hear catchy synthpop songs with contrasts between classically retro synth melodies and busy programmed electronic riffs and beats.
Press / Reviews
Review of Yellow and Grey
Yellow and Grey is “A tune that is unashamedly basking in the memories of early 80s Synth and Electro Pop of a kind once pioneered by the early versions of OMD and Human League.”
“Effortlessly melodic with a simple but great hook. Synth Pop that will put a smile in your heart.”
Neil March (Trust the Doc / Exile FM Radio)
Recent review of “Sunlight”:
(Mistrust’s) naturally deadpan delivery is adorned with some sweet expressiveness as he delivers a sparse synthpop track with clever contrasts between classically retro synth melodies and busy programmed electronic riffs while the beat is basic but crisp. The melody and lyrics are touching and underline the Manchester artist’s innate humanity while the performance is bang on the money (Trust the Doc)
